Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 7, 2026
This policy explains how SpaceLauncher handles information when you use the app and website. SpaceLauncher is made by Chen Guo.
For privacy law purposes, Chen Guo is the data controller for personal information handled through SpaceLauncher support and this website.
Keyboard Input
SpaceLauncher processes keyboard events locally on your Mac so it can recognize your configured leader key and trigger actions such as opening apps, URLs, files, scripts, menu items, and simulated keystrokes.
SpaceLauncher does not record what you type, does not store a history of your typed text, does not transmit keyboard input to any server, and does not sell keyboard data.
macOS Accessibility Permission
SpaceLauncher requires Accessibility permission because macOS requires that permission for apps that observe keyboard events or simulate keystrokes. You can revoke this permission at any time in System Settings.
App Data
SpaceLauncher stores your settings locally on your Mac, including configured keys, actions, and app preferences. These settings are used to run the app and are not uploaded by SpaceLauncher.
Crash Reports and Diagnostics
SpaceLauncher can send crash reports and sanitized error diagnostics to Bugsnag to help fix bugs and crashes. This setting is enabled by default and can be changed in SpaceLauncher Settings under General > Privacy.
Turning this setting off stops manually reported error diagnostics immediately. Automatic crash reporting changes take full effect after restarting SpaceLauncher.
Diagnostic reports may include app version, macOS version, device and runtime information, aggregate settings such as counts of configured shortcuts and action kinds, sanitized error categories, operation names, and system error domains or codes. These reports are not described as anonymous because the diagnostics service may use identifiers or technical metadata to group related reports.
Diagnostic reports do not include what you type, clipboard contents, full key binding JSON, action descriptions, disabled app paths, file paths, URLs, shell commands, Insert Text content, or license codes.
License Check-In
SpaceLauncher may check license status with a SpaceLauncher license endpoint. The request sends a hashed license code, a pseudonymous install ID, the event source, and app version information. It does not send the raw license code.
Software Updates
SpaceLauncher uses Sparkle for software updates. Update checks are separate from the crash reports and diagnostics setting. You can control automatic update checks in SpaceLauncher Settings.
Website and Support
If you contact support, I receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, message, and any troubleshooting details you include.
The website uses Cloudflare Pages hosting and Formspree for the support form. These third-party services may process basic technical information such as IP address, browser information, page views, and submitted form content according to their own policies.
Cookies and Tracking
This website does not use advertising cookies or analytics tags. Cloudflare may use strictly necessary technologies to provide hosting, security, and network delivery.
Payments
Checkout is handled by FastSpring. FastSpring may process buyer information needed to complete payment, calculate taxes, issue receipts, handle refunds, and prevent fraud.
SpaceLauncher does not receive or store your full card details.
Legal Bases
Where GDPR or similar laws apply, I process personal information on these legal bases:
- To provide support and respond to your requests.
- To operate, secure, and maintain the website and app.
- To complete purchases, refunds, tax handling, fraud prevention, and related records when sales are available.
- To comply with legal obligations.
International Transfers
The services used to host the website, process support messages, and process payments may handle information in countries other than your own. Where required, these providers are expected to use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
Retention
Support emails and related messages may be retained as long as needed to provide support, maintain records, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. Payment and tax records, when applicable, may be retained for the periods required by payment providers and applicable law.
Your Choices and Rights
You can uninstall SpaceLauncher, delete its local preferences, revoke Accessibility permission, or contact me to request access, correction, or deletion of support-related personal information where applicable.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, request a copy of your information, request data portability, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, or complain to your local data protection authority.
If California privacy law applies, you may also have the right to know, access, correct, delete, or opt out of certain uses of personal information. SpaceLauncher does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
